the interweb
Yenny Seo gets it. Since stumbling upon her perfectly curated inspiration on instagram, I've followed suit and now stalk her findings on pinterest, tumblr and the old fashioned way, url. Yenny pulls the best of editorial, lookbooks, art and photography so I don't have to. Just a minute-long scroll on her blog is enough to make one feel more cool-girl. Her post "short cuts" juuuust might have inspired my chop.

Oh haaaay, the editorial I shot with the ultimate babe team at Chuck's Vintage last Tuesday is already up on Live Fast Mag! Had an amazing day running around barefoot in beautiful NOE Undergarments lingerie and the best vintage pieces. Dodged cops to skate across Melrose Ave, climbed dirty roofs, broke into an abandoned house, pretended I knew how to play a fifty pound banjo and got hollered at from a TMZ tour van. Also, dirty foot game was STRONG that day. #dirtyfeetandlingerie

Oh, hello there September. I'll take this as the perfect opportunity to round up my sweater picks for my favorite season, because, what's better than sweater weather? I mean besides pumpkin spice lattes.
1. White. Yup, today is labor day and I'm telling you to buy a white sweater for fall. Two reasons. A, as one who appreciates a great hashtag, the #nofilter text is freakin' hilarious. B, it will look just as cool over a mini come spring as it does with moto skinnies and an LJ now. Trust me...the no white after labor day rule only applies to your mom.
2. Asymetrical. There are few things I love more than a loose sweater with an added element of understated cool. This Alexander Wang one is it. Fine knit wool ensures optimal cold weather usage.
3. Striped. Cool girl essential here. Oversized and only forty bucks. CAN'T LOSE.
4. Graphic. How I limited my sweater picks to include only one Wildfox sweater is beyond me...but all good, cause this one is bomb. Loving the v-neck cut on their classic baggy beach jumper and when your boyfriend claims he "didn't know what you wanted for Christmas" you can just point to your chest. No mixed messages..."take me to Paris" should get the point across. Key word, should.
5. Deep Scoop. A sexy baggy sweater??!! It's possible, and here's the proof. Light weight and black with a generously cut neckline that shows off maaaaajor clavicle, aka sexiest body part! Worn over a super lacey bra with a few delicate gold chains and you can enjoy pretending you didn't notice the double takes.
"Need" doesn't even come close to describing my complete obsession with everything Reformation right now. Perfectly cut tee dresses, rompers and two pieces all in fresh print combos. Doesn't hurt that they're all modeled by super babe Christy. *insert a million heart eye emojis here* Grab a couple wardrobe staples in stores (NYC/LA) or online now!
My instagram pics featured on Forever 21's blog as a part of "21 Days of LA!" Yay!

More denim?!? Soooo crazy. Well what am I to do when super cute little online shop, Haute Miss, sends me the perfect denim shirt dress?! Light weight and light washed, excuse me while I live in this all summer. On Saturday I wore the dress under my Levi's jacket, vans and, of course, topped it off with my favorite hat. Since I'm all about variations on a theme...this dress works perfectly into my Canadian tuxedo wardrobe staples. Already excited to wear this dress come fall...works as the perfect layer over tights and under a cool baggy sweater.

LOVE the cute snap buttons on this dress

Walked out of my calculus class last night and opened up my instagram to a million gazillion notifications. A few screenshot-ed texts later and I see that @nastygal posted a pic from my most recent personal style post (this one!) featuring the bomb-dot-com Insight "Python Art" Skinnies!! I almost peed myself! I;m honored to be featured on their blog for "Nasty Gal's Do It Better!"
Check out my feature and get your shop on!
" Rima Vaidila of Fire On The Head puts her spin on cool girl staples in a graphic white tee with rolled sleeves and perfectly faded floral skinnies by Insight. Add some lace-up sneakers, a slime green board and one super shaggy bob (that we seriously want to copy), and you've got a laid-back look that's ready to ride straight into summer."
Nasty Gal's DO do it better, duh!
So clear shoes are kinda-totally-100 P, awesome. Wait...clear shoes? Like the ones pageant queens pair their spray tans with or the unofficial official shoe of pole "artistés?" No. Well...kinda. I'll admit when I started seeing the Lucite Jeffrey Campbell "soiree" heel on every blogger chick I wanted to vom. They looked so cheapie and better suited for a night, you'd rather forget, on the Vegas strip. Well I'm happy (?) to say I've made a complete 360. Clear shoes, man! Lucite heels and clear straps make your legs look a million miles long and are the perfect anti-flip flop for summer parties. They make a dainty sundress more cool-girl, add a bit of edge to jeans and a tee or just look freakin awesome with your Fourth of July uniform, *cough* flag bikini *cough cough.* Although this trend will most likely die come September...get a pair for the summer and have fun feeling like your five-year old self in jelly shoes. Only cooler.

Would YOU wear em?
Remember when I dedicated an entire post to some of my favorite black structured bags ("completely reasonable??") Well when a photo of perfectly structured satchel purses, albeit pastel hues, showed up on my instagram news feed via @openingceremony I had to check em out on the inter web. So while hunting the OC website for the same pastel ones...I spotted the perforated leather version.Yup, this bag went from "want" to "CLOSET NOW" status before I even clicked on the thumbnail. Oh lord Jesus it's a fire! Small enough to avoid the awkward briefcase-hybrid look but large enough to fit an iPad mini an Fujifilm Instax this bag is the only bag needed for Summer...Fall, Winter and next next Summer. Even the detachable cross body-style shoulder strap, which I have an unexplained hatred for, gets a thumbs up from me. The OC Ace Small Satchel. You're welcome.
"Rich Italian velvet, lipstick red Marrakesh leather lining and memory foam cushion insoles for added comfort." Yeah. I'm totally ok with what Modern Vice is workin with. Clearly I need both pairs. I don't even care if they're irrelevant in six months, by then they'll have holes in them anyway.
Happy birthday to me.
I didn't think it was possible. Weekday, an online shop where every. single. piece. has me "adding to cart." This is it. I don't need to go anywhere else. AMAZING little day dresses (major weakness right now,) perfectly cut racerback tanks, classic crew neck sweaters, basic trousers and perfect denim. All slouchy but structured, minimal and cool. An "it's all in the details" aesthetic with an "I'm too cool for you" attitude. Neutral colors, lots of black and simple, unique graphics. Everything on the site is perfection. Ladies and gentlemen...cool girls prefer Weekday.
A select few of my must haves...all available on Weekday
You know when you randomly remember that cool, hand-cast onyx tooth brush holder (Hey. I don't know what you buy online) but just can't remember where, in the virtual retail abyss, you "added to cart." No more! Enter: Svpply.com Here you follow your favorite stores, see something you like, click "Want" and BOOM it's now on your "Wants" list. OR you can upload from anywhere on the internet! Simple and straight-forward. This is basically my life in a website. Seriously. Oh, and it's not just clothes! There are all kinds of obscure furniture pieces you didn't even know you needed, like a faux-grass, cube ottoman for example.
This is the end of having virtual shopping carts on twenty different eCommerce sites (I know I'm not the only one!!!) It is a social media site so you can do the whole followers-war thing, or join because it's the best thing to happen to virtual, window-shopping crack heads enthusiasts. And did I mention the simple layout makes your want-list perfectly printable? So yeah, you should get on it and...you're welcome. I swear Svpply didn't pay me to write this.
