My fun editorial for Cake Magazine is finally out! Ran around the streets of Venice with awesome photographer Emman Montalvan one overcast afternoon while we prayed for the rain to hold. Played on Abbot Kinney in a floral two piece and experienced my first food truck taco. Awesome styling by Monica De Castro and makeup by Tami K Shirley.

"C'mon Girl," is in Cake-Mag April  2013 issue "Love Visions"
available now (buy it to see the full spread here!)

Blue and white china print on my legs? Yes. Paired with a light chambray shirt in the same colors? Crazy! Although these printed pants would not be labeled "bold" by some, the cool paisley print definetley commands attention. Found these awesome pants at Zara. Surprise, surprise. Skinny-cut trousers with simple zipper and low pockets, these are an awesome wardrobe spucer-uper. Worn with a cool, relaxed shirt and pair of strappy, embellished sandals the usually stuffy trouser gets a fresh, downtown twist.

"Rich Italian velvet, lipstick red Marrakesh leather lining and memory foam cushion insoles for added comfort." Yeah. I'm totally ok with what Modern Vice is workin with. Clearly I need both pairs. I don't even care if they're irrelevant in six months, by then they'll have holes in them anyway.

Happy birthday to me.

Is it really almost summer? Wasn't Christmas just a couple weeks ago? Crazy how time flies when you're busy busy busy (and my birthday's already tomorrow, what?!) In case you aren't a regular reader, (come on...I mean really) I'm completely denim obsessed. I wear a Canadian tuxedo like it's my job. Well...you know what I mean. The best denim for hot weather is worn thin and light washed. I found this perfect vintage denim shirt at Wasteland in Santa Monica (15 bucks!) and these amazeballs cut offs at the Fairfax Sunday flea market, which I proudly haggled my butt off for. I mean 55 for a pair of cutoffs? I don't think so. The bandeau bikini top I'm wearing under the shirt (not pictured) makes this outfit perfect for a summer day spent bike riding, lunching and squeezing in a few rays on the way...and also lets me get away with minimal button usage, hehe.

I didn't think it was possible. Weekday, an online shop where every. single. piece. has me "adding to cart." This is it. I don't need to go anywhere else. AMAZING little day dresses (major weakness right now,) perfectly cut racerback tanks, classic crew neck sweaters, basic trousers and perfect denim. All slouchy but structured, minimal and cool. An "it's all in the details" aesthetic with an "I'm too cool for you" attitude. Neutral colors, lots of black and simple, unique graphics. Everything on the site is perfection. Ladies and gentlemen...cool girls prefer Weekday.
A select few of my must haves...all available on Weekday

Lazy Sundays are best post-noon served with fresh fruit, a pot of coffee and a casual dose of leather and denim. If you follow me on Instagram you know I'm obsessed with my Levi's jacket (as seen HERE.) I've gotten to the point of having to make sure it doesn't make more than a weekly appearance, because honestly...I live in it. Here I added the jacket on top of a basic white racerback tank and my awesome new faux leather mini from Zara. Although I'm a huge advocate for real leather (quality, people!) this skirt made it to the dressing room...and obviously, into a shopping bag. For only thirty dollars how could I resist?! I love how easily the denim jacket takes a "girl's night out"-appropriate outfit and makes it casual enough for Sunday morning afternoon omelettes.

For those of you staying in LA this weekend instead of heading out to the desert...New Image Art Gallery is running a pretty sweet show. "Black & White" showcases three artists that "embrace the absence of color to celebrate shapes, forms and the repetition of geometric patterns in order to reinvent abstraction." (New Image Art website.) Attended the opening last weekend and in keeping with the theme wore my favorite ASOS sleevless smock dress in black (which I juuuust wrote about here) and a pair of black ankle booties. I thought I was as kinds of "Babes at the Museum" with my super high top knot and apparently I was right, as they called me out on instagram (#winning!)

Go check it out and take some cool instagram-worthy pictures. In black and white of course.

Dungarees, "DOPE" snapbacks, spiked everything and an overdose of hair chalk. Yup sounds about right as far as this year's "festival fashion" goes. Of course there will be the crop tops, cut offs, flower crowns (read my thoughts on those things here) and fringe on everything from boots to bras as per usual. So how does a cool girl stand out in a mob of tanned chicks in tribal prints?? Don't worry...I GOT YOU.

What? No crochet, tie dye or hair accessories? Blasphemy! Hey, I said I'd help you stand out not blend in with the plebs. I call this "coacHELLA cool girl." Not really one for neon but I'm totally diggin this little bralette and cool melon sunnies...that and I don't think the desert is the place for my inner goth chick. Take a spin on the festival staple cutoffs with these rad olive green Rag & Bone shorties , double cool points for going up a few sizes and wearing them super low with a shoe lace as a belt. A pair of classic high tops will let you run from stage to stage without breaking a sweat. Top it off with a white cropped tank and you have a festival look that is equal parts desert-street (yeah I made that up) and cool. "Um excuse me...I AM the band."
I had discounted rompers initially because I felt they screamed kindergarten jungle gym...that was before I saw this slinky piece hanging at Planet Blue in Beverly Hills. Deep V, cuffed sleeves, relaxed fit and not too short?! (Insert row of heart eye emoticons here.) Can easily go from morning coffee runs to late night dinner with a shoe swap. Wear hair in a messy top knot and add a delicate chain necklace to max out the sexy neckline. I could not stop talking about how perfect this romper is for the rest of the day weekend. Get it hereThank me after you're sick of giving out fake numbers...real talk.

What do you think...to romp(er) or not??
Rag and Bone got me again. Sorry guys...I totally thought I was over my obsession but then these babies popped up on my Facebook newsfeed. Leather and lace shorties that are all kinds of grungy sweetness. 100% lamb leather and 100% bad ass, these are perfect for showing a whole lotta leg, or a whole not-a leg when worn over tights. Keep it sporty cool in the warm weather and wear with a baggy white tee, striped bralette and a sweet pair of "gym-barbie" nikes. Yup, the Rag and Bone obsession is definitely back.

Why has it taken me so long to jump on the dress wagon?! They're a wardrobe no-brainer. One piece that looks just as great alone or used as a layer under sweaters, jackets and cool tees. So after scouring the internet for simple, sleeveless shift-style dresses in my favorite neutral colors (grey and black) I found the perfect one on ASOS! Yeah I had a little apprehension ordering from them, although returns are free, I didn't want to risk the possibility of having to wait weeks to exchange for a different size. They enticed with a 25% off student discount and next thing you know I ordered this dress in both grey and black. Best. Buy. Everrrrr. These little dresses are definetley now a staple in my wardrobe. They fit a little baggy so they work perfect as the casual day dress I was hunting for. The fabric is a heavier weight cotton-jersey that looks and feels at least triple the price. Oh and did I mention it's only $33, also comes in some cool prints AND there are short and long sleeved versions?!? YES.
