pop fizz clink

With NYE just around the corner, it's time to start planning your look. I've never really been a "party dress" kind of girl (jeans and a sparkly top are typically the extent of my going out-look) but this year I thought I'd try doing the sexy dress route and man am I feelin myself. It's crazy how unexpectedly  sexy I felt slipping into a slinky little dress. I'm all about doing an unexpected look for evening...there's nothing worse then seeing four girls in the same exact dress as you. Hair & makeup also make a world of difference. For this look Crystal gave me a pretty rose gold cat eye and the perfect messy low bun I will now attempt to recreate on a weekly basis. Click through to read Crystal's tips on achieving this beauty look and shop my curated selection of unexpected NYE dresses!

Q: I'm obsessed with this unexpected twist on a cat eye. Do you have any tricks for perfecting a flick on your own?

A: I love a cat eye, especially this metallic rose gold one by Colourpop Cosmetics in Get Paid. My cat eye tip is start with the flick, and do it with your eye open. That way you can see exactly how it's going to look. The worst is being surprised when you open your eye and see your cat eye is drooping.

Q: I love this lip color. Any tricks for wearing coral-y colors in the winter?

A: Coral is one of those colors that looks great on pretty much everyone. Dry lips are a problem in the winter, so exfoliating (try this or this) and moisturizing is key. For a look like this use Cargo Cosmetics essential lip color in Sedona and dab on with your finger.

Q: Ugh. This low, messy bun is everything. How'd you do it?

A: This low messy bun is so great for holiday parties. Start with a low messy ponytail and then literally tie your hair in a knot (trust me.) If you have long hair, do more knots. Then using two or three bobby pins, pin where desired. The more ends sticking out the better!
