done did it myself / cropped denim shirt

Looking at my closet the other day I realized I have tons of stuff hanging that I just don't really wear, including this choies clothing denim shirtdress. It's great quality denim but just too stiff and oversized to be worn as originally intended. So instead of giving it away, I decided to chop it into a shirt I would actually wear. I know, I pinterest of me. I put on the dress and marked the sides at hip length with a sharpie and again at the front button that hit just below my zipper. I then laid the dress flat on the floor and cut off the bottom into a slight V shape, with the sides slightly higher than the front/back. I also cut off the wrist cuffs and then threw the new and improved shirt into the wash with a splash of bleach to break down the denim. Viola! Out came a new denim shirt that I'll actually wear. I do still plan on taking in the back with a few contrasting stitches to make it a little more fitted. For someone who generally avoids DIY-s, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Happy Friday! Now go make something this weekend
