dressing room diaries
It's Sunday morning. That means today's agenda for most of you involves brunch, hitting the farmers market and a little retail adventure. If you follow me on instagram, (obviously you already do) you'll see that I made a Zara trip on Friday and had some fun taking mirror selfies in the dressing room. Found an amazing black and white striped turtleneck sweater (top left) with 3/4 length sleeves that I just died for. It's baggy and looks perfect with black moto zip skinnies and a pair of ankle booties, which I ALSO happened to find. Leather with a two inch block heel, the booties (bottom right) have a slightly pointed toe. Not only would they rock with a canadian tux, they would be equally cool girl with a pair of semi-sheer black tights and an oversized shirtdress. So if you happen to find yourself in a Zara this afternoon...here are some pieces you should at least try on. Trust me. Besides...you do need some new pieces for your fall wardrobe. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
All available here & in stores
Blue and white china print on my legs? Yes. Paired with a light chambray shirt in the same colors? Crazy! Although these printed pants would not be labeled "bold" by some, the cool paisley print definetley commands attention. Found these awesome pants at Zara. Surprise, surprise. Skinny-cut trousers with simple zipper and low pockets, these are an awesome wardrobe spucer-uper. Worn with a cool, relaxed shirt and pair of strappy, embellished sandals the usually stuffy trouser gets a fresh, downtown twist.

I had discounted rompers initially because I felt they screamed kindergarten jungle gym...that was before I saw this slinky piece hanging at Planet Blue in Beverly Hills. Deep V, cuffed sleeves, relaxed fit and not too short?! (Insert row of heart eye emoticons here.) Can easily go from morning coffee runs to late night dinner with a shoe swap. Wear hair in a messy top knot and add a delicate chain necklace to max out the sexy neckline. I could not stop talking about how perfect this romper is for the rest of the day weekend. Get it here. Thank me after you're sick of giving out fake numbers...real talk.

What do you think...to romp(er) or not??
The Canadian tuxedo. Classic and chic but never stuffy. Paired best with major cool-girl swag. American Apparel gets major brand-love for their awesome assortment of denim. Shirts, shorts, skirts, skorts...whateva you want in that good ole jean material, they got it (and in a variety of washes to boot!) Tried on a bunch of stuff but this is probably my favorite combo. The Unisex "Denim Shirt" in light wash indigo paired with the Denim Circle skirt in medium-stone washed indigo. I turned the skirt so that the zipper and button were on the front instead of the side because why the heck not...YOLO.

Zara, man! Always been a go-to of mine great for basics and affordable, on-tread pieces. They're killin it in stores right now. I want e v e r y t h i n g. Lots of black and white, simple stuff with a twist of an athletic vibe (aka right up my alley.) The standout, gotta-have-it? This super awesome 3/4 sleeve tee shirt dress with gold stars.  It's like the classy version of an oversized sweatshirt. Has perfectly placed little pockets and is 100% cotton (for size purposes I don't recommend the dryer.) It's 60 bucks and works for day with some oversized sunnies, a top knot and vans or a night out with a fierce red lip and simple black heels (which, cough cough, Zara also happens to have the perfect pair HERE.)

Zara, you totally get a gold star on this one...that and my money.

New Year's Eve Dress Hunt
Round One : Urban Outfitters

Knit body con mini dress with faux leather paneling on the front. I absolutely love the halter neckline, super flattering. It's stretchy with an exposed gold zipper on the back center seam (eh, not a fan of this). Overall a solid, simple dress that can be dressed up with bling-y dangle earrings, stilettos, a top knot and a red lip.

Love Love LOVE this one. It's super comfy and the pattern is extremely body flattering. It has NYE potential with the right additions. Glittery platforms, a leather jacket, winged eyeliner and stick-straight hair can take this from dinner to poppin bottles at midnight. Also available in black (yessss)

"I look pretty, I look tough, at the same damn time!" Just about sums up this one. Bad ass leather bodice with pretty chiffon skirt. Only thing I didn't like was that the concealed side zipper stuck out a bit on my left hip instead of laying flat. I would stick it down with boob tape to create the most flattering line. Throw on a sparkly collar necklace, blazer and some peep toe booties to rock it right on the 31st.
