I'm convinced open knit sweaters are THE October essential. It's not quite chilly enough for a leather jacket layer during the day, but t-shirt weather has definetley come and gone. This cozy cardigan by Umgee is great for adding a little warmth in the autumn sunshine. I wore this new perfectly cut tank by Asos underneath with an amazing pair of Res Denim skinnies. These jeans have super bad a** embroidery up the sides and a slightly waxed finish that makes them perfect for day to night looks. Finished off my outfit with a new pair of little ankle booties. On another note, is it seriously already mid-October?!? I'll be packing for my NYC trip before I know it!

Like I've said before, autumn is my favorite season. I mean...pumpkin spice everything, sweater weather, scary movies, HALLOWEEN?! How can it not be my favorite? So I may have already decided on my Halloween costume this year. Maybe. Looking at one of my favorite little tank dresses by Asos gave me an idea for cooler weather. Throw it over my American Apparel button up to look all school girl cutesy...did I just say cutesy? So I did. To add to the private-elementary-school look I parted my hair down the middle and secured my bangs with bobby pins. Although by the time Halloween rolls around I'll be pairing this outfit with some semi-sheer black tights and little combat boots (will repost the final look,) here I wore my trusty ankle booties from American Eagle. Excuse me while I go live off candy corn for the next two months.

I was feeling athletically inspired yesterday in my favorite nikes, varsity jacket and racer cut tank. Got this suede sleeve Car Mar varsity jacket at LF on Abbot Kinney a few months back. It's obviously my favorite because it has a denim body!! Underneath I'm wearing another one of my closet favorites, this cool racer cut tank by ASOS (worn in black here!) And I already said I'm embracing light denim for summer so as a variation on that theme...I'm wearing a pair of Rag & Bone skinnies in "destroyed." Although I felt a little elementary school pairing denim with sneakers at first, I quickly realized why people do it...it's COMFY! This look is perfect for post gym errands (no shoe change required) or anytime you want to look like you could kick some serious a** on the track.

What do YOU think about jeans with runners?

The white tank top is a wardrobe staple and gets extra playtime when the summer rolls around. Instead of pairing it with your usual cutoffs, skirt, jeans, whatever...here are three ideas for mixing it up.

1. White Tank + Linen Shorties + Sneakers
The muscle tank gets the sporty spice attention it deserves when paired with these linen Rag & Bone shorts (leather version of these babies here.) Worn with gym barbie nike's this one is perfect for a post soulcycle lunch date or an Observatory hike.

2. White Tank + Denim Pencil Skirt + Leather Boots
Did you think I was going to write about a white tank top without denim?? A tank with a slight crop fit looks rad paired with a high waisted light wash denim pencil skirt. A pair of classic engineer boots keep the girly-ness in check.

3. White Tank + White Pants + Strappy Heels
The summer equivalent of my go-to black on black would obviously be white on white. Looks so fresh and so clean. Bonus: makes even the slightest hint of a tan pop like you just got back from a week long Mediterranean escapade (yes, please.) This look even works for a night out when you add a generous amount of dry shampoo and eyeliner.

All of these look killer paired with a denim jacket, huge cat eye sunnies, a bottle of coconut water and tons of bronzer. (Kidding about the bronzer. Don't do that.)
Why has it taken me so long to jump on the dress wagon?! They're a wardrobe no-brainer. One piece that looks just as great alone or used as a layer under sweaters, jackets and cool tees. So after scouring the internet for simple, sleeveless shift-style dresses in my favorite neutral colors (grey and black) I found the perfect one on ASOS! Yeah I had a little apprehension ordering from them, although returns are free, I didn't want to risk the possibility of having to wait weeks to exchange for a different size. They enticed with a 25% off student discount and next thing you know I ordered this dress in both grey and black. Best. Buy. Everrrrr. These little dresses are definetley now a staple in my wardrobe. They fit a little baggy so they work perfect as the casual day dress I was hunting for. The fabric is a heavier weight cotton-jersey that looks and feels at least triple the price. Oh and did I mention it's only $33, also comes in some cool prints AND there are short and long sleeved versions?!? YES.
